Glenstal Abbey School is part of a Benedictine monastery, with deep roots in the monastic and Christian tradition. The Benedictine tradition is characterised by balance, proportion and harmony, and cherishes the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit. Proud of our Catholic and Benedictine roots, we are happy to welcome students from a wide variety of denominational and faith commitments to be part of our school community. The process of discerning whether Glenstal is the right choice for a student requires dialogue between the student and his parents and the school. Our Admissions process is designed to facilitate that discernment and decision-making.
The Benedictine understanding of community attaches particular importance to family and friendship and these are core elements of the experience offered at Glenstal Abbey School.
Our context as a small school set in the beautiful County Limerick countryside enhances that sense of community. We believe strongly that contact is as important as content in the educational relationship. Our small class size supports this ethos and we are proud to say that at Glenstal we offer not merely tuition but true education.
Glenstal fosters independent, critical and imaginative thinking that will help guide our students through life. We encourage our students to develop a love for learning and a life-long willingness to learn, to embrace a spirit of creativity and innovation, to strive for independence and originality of thought and to be men of honour and integrity in all they do and say.
Choosing the right school is a very important decision in the life of every family. The decision for a child to attend Glenstal Abbey School requires a good deal of thought by parents, students and school alike.
